Reflections Exhibition by Maryte Collard

1 November 2016 Filed Under: Contemporary Quilts

For over a year now, I have been working  one-on-one with Maryte Collard from Lithuania as part of the Studio Art Quilts Associates Mentorship Program.* One of Maryte’s core goals was to create a body of work with a distinctive voice. She has worked diligently on this goal and you can see some of the results in Atspindžiai (Reflections), her solo exhibition from 31 October – 18 November 2016 at Siauliai public library:

If, like me, you’re not able to visit Lithuania right now, Maryte shares some installation photos on her blog. While I have studied Maryte’s work closely, it is wonderful to see these photos to appreciate the scale of the works and to see her development as an artist.  Congratulations Maryte!

Thank you, Brenda! You are very much a part of this exhibition as well. You opened my eyes and showed me a path. I appreciate very much what you have done for me.

Sigh) Look out for a range of video and virtual offerings in connection with The New Quilt exhibition presented by QuiltNSW at the Hawkesbury Regional Gallery at Windsor from 5 February to 11 April 2021.
