The Quilters’ Guild of NSW Inc holds an annual challenge. The collection premieres at the annual general meeting in October and then tours for two years as a suitcase exhibition. It’s been a long time since I participated in the Guild Challenge but this year I realised that I already had a work that fitted the size (40x40cm/16x16in) and theme – Colour Collision. Flying Colours: Blue Mallee Ringneck celebrates the blue mutation of the Mallee Ringneck parrot (see this photo). It was a fun exercise to work with hues of blue in a monochromatic palette. Not surprisingly, other entries were more multi-coloured – see the Colour Collision Online Gallery.
This is the 9th work in my Flying Colours series and there are many more colourful Australian parrots to inspire me.
