2014 – A Year of Curating

13 December 2013 Filed Under: Exhibitions, Living Colour!, Teaching, Twelve by Twelve 1 Comment

I am excited to have two major curating projects in 2014, building on my previous experience with Twelve by Twelve and Beneath the Southern Sky.

Living Colour

I have already received more than a dozen entries for Living Colour and look forward to receiving many more by the 31 January 2014. I am looking for original textile works in a diverse range of styles and materials that address the title theme. Don’t forget there are two words to the theme – living + colour. Beyond rainbows, wHen I look around, I see a world pulsing with life and colour so there’s plenty of scope! For more information, please see the Living Colour website:

Australia Quilts at the European Patchwork Meeting

In September 2014, Carrefour Européen du Patchwork/European Patchwork Meeting celebrates its 20th anniversary in Alsace, France. Australia is guest country of honour from outside Europe and I am curating a special invitational exhibit of 30-45 “exceptional quilts from the great Southern land” ranging from traditional quilts to contemporary textile art. The logistics are a little daunting but I look forward to accompanying the exhibit and showcasing the best of Australian quilt making.

European Patchwork Meeting

In addition, I am teaching two one-day classes at Carrefour Européen du Patchwork AND Twelve by Twelve Colourplay will also be on display AND I will meet up with Belgian Twelve Françoise. Did I mention I am excited?!

My first full day in Marrakech was completed by a 3 hour food tour. A multi-sensory experience meandering through the medina. And, yes, I did get a teensy bit lost making my way back to the riad afterwards… @moroccanfoodadventures

My short time in Marrakech began with pouring rain and ended with a glorious sunset from a rooftop bar overlooking Koutoubia mosque against a backdrop of the snow-capped Atlas Mountains. 🌴🌅
