I lived in Sydney for fourteen years and worked downtown for all of that time. I don’t miss congested week days jostling with people in suits but on a sparking spring Saturday, the city is beguiling. With US Twelve Karen Rips and her husband Ted staying in town to visit their son, the Laundry King and I hopped on a train to Sydney to show them around. Our route took us through Martin Place; past some of the historic buildings on Macquarie Street; a quick peek at the aboriginal art at the Art a Gallery of NSW; down to the harbour front; through the Botanic Gardens where we stopped for lunch; up close and personal at the Opera House; a little retail therapy to support our fellow artists at Craft NSW in the Rocks; and up onto the Harbour Bridge. A wonderful day.
