Budgies Uncaged, the latest work in my Flying Colours series, has been selected as a finalist in the Australasian Quilt Convention 2013 challenge – FREE. You can view this quilt next week (18-21 April) at AQC and it will then go on tour with the Craft & Quilt Fairs.
Artist Statement: In some parts of the world, budgies are caged as family pets. In Australia, tens of thousands of budgies fly free in murmurations creating a spectacle as they swoop through the air.
Two other Flying Colours works will be on display at AQC. Lorikeet Circus is part of the Twelve by Twelve Colourplay exhibition and Crimson Rosella is part of Australia Wide Three, a travelling exhibition presented by Ozquilt Network Inc.
Fellow “Twelve” Kirsten Duncan and I will be presenting a floor talk at the Colourplay exhibit daily at 1.30pm during the Australasian Quilt Convention. All welcome!
