As the sun sets on 2011, it is natural to reflect on the year that has passed and to set intention for the year to come. Perhaps you too will draw inspiration from this redwood sculpture that adorns the cupola of the Mendocino Savings Bank/Masonic Hall. Its exact symbolic meaning is shrouded in Masonic secrecy, one interpretation is that “Time, patience and perseverance will accomplish all things.”
For this maiden, one new time management tool is already proving useful. The Laundry King gave me a 100 minute mini timer for Christmas, for those frequent occasions when I put something onto cook and disappear into my studio out of earshot of the oven timer. I’ve only been home for a day or two but I’ve found it perfect for allocating time for various tasks including checking e-mails, machine quilting sessions and writing this blog post.
Ironically, I’ve also spent an inordinate amount of time researching calendar and task management apps for my iPad that I can also sync with Outlook and the PCs we use on our home network. For now, I am running with Pocket Informant. You can get a glimpse of how my 2012 is shaping up by visiting my Serendipity Calendar that lists my teaching, exhibition and presentation engagements. I hope that 2012, as in 2011, brings me into personal contact with many of my online friends.

I’m exhausted just reading your post Brenda! For goodness sake don’t tell Sweet Pea about the mini timer! He might give me one for my birthday!
PS Welcome home!

Coincidentally, I have just been thinking about getting a timer to manage my various daily tasks! Must get one sooner rather than later. All the best for 2012, Brenda!
