It was fun helping out in the Laundry King’s grandson’s reading class last week. While some of the first graders were confidently engrossed in classics like Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, some were more tentatively tackling picture storybooks. Either way, it was wonderful to hear these children reading aloud in their cute voices. They didn’t laugh at my accent either.
I love children’s storybooks so I was excited to hear that my friend Marsi Gorman has published her first children’s book – Night of the Plunger Knight. “Night of the Plunger Knight.” It’s a little story she wrote based on her young son’s imaginative adventures with his stuffed animals while she is cooking in the kitchen.
Then today via the Sydney Morning Herald, I discovered that the fabulous Diary of a Wombat by Jackie French is available as a free iTunes download via the Australian iTunes store only (ie you have to have an Australian iTunes account). The book download can only be viewed using iBooks on an iPad, iPhone (3G or later) or iPod touch (2nd generation or later). I wish I had it last week when I gave R his wombat Christmas decoration!
