Unfortunately, this Why Quilts Matter: History Art & Politics DVD set is not available to non-US purchasers (and, of course, I can’t get PBS) but it’s on my Christmas list:
This nine-part documentary series focuses on why quilts are bigger than you think, seen through the lenses of history, art, and politics. For the quilter, collector or even casual observer, each episode takes the viewer behind the scenes and into new territory, exploring the centrality of the quilt in American culture and revealing the unsuspected size, breadth and depth of the current quilt phenomenon.
Premiering this September on PBS stations, Why Quilts Matter: History, Art & Politics is also available for purchase at www.whyquiltsmatter.org.

Thanks for commenting on Why Quilts Matter. We are busy getting our systems up and running and plan to offer international shipping in the near future.
with regard to PBS let me clarify that relationship for you.
The series is being distributed to PBS stations through the National Educational Telecommunications Association. What this means is that it was not produced by PBS and therefore will not have a predetermined national airing schedule. Stations that belong to NETA will have access to the series and they can choose to air it if they wish. We have hired a stations relations manager to work to get it aired in as many of the top markets as possible.
love your comments! Shelly
