My first tutorial as guest artist at 3 Creative Studios is now up: Karamatsu – Japanese Larch. Karamatsu, or Japanese larch, is a radiating circle design created with a stitch resist. Different effects are achieved depending upon the number of circles you stitch; the number of rows of stitching; and how close together the rows are. I hope you give it a try.
If you make something using this technique and post it to the 3 Creative Studios TOM Flickr Group by April 16, you may win a prize. Terri and Vicki will draw 3 names from the entries. The first-place winner will receive a copy of the book Twelve by Twelve International Art Quilt Challenge, a selection of my contemporary quilt patterns AND 3 fat quarters of hand dyed fabric from Vicki. The 2nd and 3rd place winners will receive one of my fabric postcards.
