I am currently working on several different projects which involve documents flying around in cyberspace with different contributors making edits from time to time. This is mostly being done the old-fashioned way of attachments to e-mails; some FTP here and there; and occasionally storage on Yahoo group systems. It works well enough but it is not always efficient so I’ve been exploring online file sharing and storage options (with an emphasis on the sharing rather than storage). The latest service to come to my attention is www.getdropbox.com which ticks the boxes with a clean, intuitive interface AND automatic folder synchronization that is fully compatible with Windows, Mac and Linux operating systems. This service offers 2GB of free storage which is adequate for my needs at this time.
I’m also aware of www.4shared.com which offers 5GB of free space and several other services that are covered in this useful review of Top 10 Online Storage Services. However, it’s always good to get real feedback from readers. So, if you have experience of an online file sharing and storage service with multiple users, let me know about it by leaving a comment.
