Mon Bon Anniversaire

12 May 2006 Filed Under: Travel 4 Comments

While this post may be dated 13 May (it’s on Aussie time), it is actually 12 May here in France and it is my 40th birthday. My sister Amy, and her husband Paul, have joined us from London to help celebrate the occasion and to see a little of the Pyrenees. We undertook a mini-chateau tour in the morning and a little wine tasting in the afternoon and passed this field of poppies along the way:

Now it is time for bit of a siesta before we go out for dinner. Our first meal out since we arrived in France at the beginning of the month.

Happy Birthday. What a wonderful trip to celebrate this milestone of birthdays. Thanks for posting about the quilts show in the winery. Neat idea! Neat quilts!
I just browsed your website and am truly impressed with your work … and the amount you’ve accomplished. Serindipity surely is evident in your style. That’s the element of designing that fascinates me the most. When something unexpected appears, I readily pursue it and have always ended up with a more interesting piece than if I had planned every detail. This way of working makes for an adventure.

The fields of poppies are magnificent – reminds me so much of Monet’s paintings.

Hope you have found a special little restaurant to dine at. So far what you have sent looks rural so I am wondering what sorts of places there will be for dining out.

Happy Birthday! Lots of love Mum

I am driven to abstraction. Abstraction is a persistent and insistent force in my creative practice. Working improvisationally, I capture the essence of my subjects to impart a sense of wonder of the natural world and a deep affinity to place.

As part of the Rajah Award that I received last year, I will be sharing a selection of my textile paintings in a special exhibit at the Australasian Quilt Convention in Melbourne presented by @craft.events_

Textile enthusiasts from across Australia and overseas gather at this exciting event. If you see me at AQC, please do say hello. I am looking forward to seeing everyone😍
