This is one of the grass monoprints that I made for the BrownSageBlue Colourplay challenge. I’m enjoying adding some hand stitching detail.
So, which do you prefer, hand quilting or machine quilting? That’s the question posed by Kristin today on the Twelve by Twelve Book Release Celebration post. everyone who leaves a reply to the question over on the Twelve by Twelve blog will go into a draw to win a copy of the book Twelve by Twelve: The International Art Quilt Challenge.

Do I have to choose? I love the way hand quilting lends itself to “channelling” … as in ideas, what ifs and quieting the party that happens in my head. I equally love the “whir” and textures that dance from under the needle when I machine quilt – not just for its speed but the sketching and the ebb and flow that takes me somewhere else …. I choose both … together … a marriage of equals on my cloth.

I like both…..hand quiltig is great for when I feel serene, machine quilting is perfect for designs that would have to be turned too many times to enjoy if done by hand! To sum it up…..I love ALL kinds of quilting!
