The strata quilt is assembled. Here’s a photo of it lying on the dining room floor before I basted it. I found a soft blue and pink print in my stash for the backing, one of my very first fabric purchases!, which is approximately the same width as the quilt. Now to work out how to quilt it quickly and effectively. I started out with a breezy daisy motif in a pale pink thread but I’m not sure about this…

Perhaps a diagonal quilting line in contrast to the horizontal & vertical lines. Love the little squares in the piecing.

I like the daisy’s – maybe some squiggles to fill in between them? Or have you already picked them out?

I’m not sure about the daisy’s either – but how would you go unpicking them? I think either of two things would suit – something still geometric but in contrast to the lines that are there (like concentric circles or one spiral starting at one point either in the centre or off side that continues out to the edges or diagonal lines), or in the ditch or a single line in the middle of each stripe of fabric to enhance the design that’s already there. I think I’d use a variegated or clear thread, I’m not a fan of the white particularly on the darker colours.
Love the quilt though, looks absolutely gorgeous when you look at the big photo!

MMm, the piecing doesnt say Daisy to me… maybe somethign more flowing, not so definite in shape?
Have to say Brenda, reading that you have used an early purchased fabric for your backing is encouraging. I often lament that those early pieces may never find a home in a quilt.
