It’s 1 January – an ideal time to reflect on your accomplishments in 2017 and to set intention for the new year ahead.
Many of you expressed interest in participating in the Weekly Art Project in 2017 but found the weekly deadline overwhelming. For 2018, I am proposing a more flexible creative challenge – the Monthly Art Project on Facebook. I invite you to:
- Join the public Facebook group
- Make a pledge to participate and let us know the parameters of your personal Monthly Art Project (M.A.P.)
- Record your process and results
- Share in the Facebook Group including the showcase on the 15th day of each month.
For myself, my M.A.P. will concentrate on exploring shape in a new body of work. There is real power in committing to a regular creative practice and I am excited to see what emerges!

Hi Brenda,
Are you able to give examples of what is required by”Record your process and results”?
Do your have guide lines for deciding on your shapes for the month?
At the end of the year, what happens to the designs?
All sounds very interesting,
Cheers,
Charlie

Hi Charlie
Thanks for stopping by. As the Monthly Art Project is a Facebook community, photos will be a key method of recording and sharing artwork but there are other methods. Keeping a notebook, sketchbook or visual diary is an invaluable tool.
I am still defining/refining the parameters of my personal MAP. Stay tuned!
I may try to exhibit my MAP works as a collection, sell them as I go or they may simply be a learning exercise. I am open to the possibilities.
