For Week 15 of my weekly art project, I turn my back on the ocean and look back to the dunes. If the word “dune” conjures up visions of exposed sandhills, think again. Here at Copacabana, the dunes are stabilised by scraggly vegetation thanks in part to the community efforts of the Bush Care group that tend the dunes on the first Saturday of each month.
Join me in January!
When I started this project back in September, I committed to completing a 6x6in textile sketch each week until the end of 2016. Here’s an overview of weeks 1-15 of my Copacabana Abstractions collection:
I am enjoying the rhythm of the project and looking at my surroundings with renewed curiosity and wonder. My project journal is overflowing with ideas and inspiration photos. I am excited now to commit to a full cycle of 52 weeks.
I look forward to seeing YOUR weekly art project. New participants are welcome to join in at any time. Make a pledge for 2017. Join me for the month of January and see how it goes!

Hi Brenda, I shall have to join in with you at a later date. My physio banned sewing for the next couple of weeks this morning. Got halfway through quilting the piece and had to stop. Was so happy with it too. 🙁
