Petite Miniature Textiles 2014 opens at Wangaratta Art Gallery tomorrow, Saturday 14 July and runs until 27 July 2014. The official opening is at 2pm by Antonia Syme, Director Australian Tapestry Workshop The exhibition features the work of 100 textile artists including High Country Lupins #2 (30x30cm), the latest work in my Wildflowers series.
I sought to introduce greater complexity in this work. This graphic shows the development of my lupin-inspired works since 2010:
All of these works are 40x40cm or less. Now I have worked through some construction issues, I am looking forward to creating larger scale lupin artworks.

I very much admire your work and the wonderful opportunities you provide for Australian Textile Artists.
Brenda Gael Smith says
Thank you for your kind words Virgina. This event is organised by the Wangaratta Art Gallery as a biennial event. This is the third “Petite Miniature Textiles” exhibition and the third time my work has been selected. It’s a great honour and also a great opportunity for textile artists to challenge themselves and share smaller works.
