While in Canberra, we have taken the opportunity to visit the fledgling National Arboretum. It is located to the west of the city on the site of pine forests that were devastated by bushfires in 2001 and 2003. The elevated position gives great view although it was overcast on our visit
The arboretum is comprised of 100 forests of rare, threatened and symbolic trees from Australia and around the world. Most plantings are recent so the trees are mere saplings. It was too cold and damp to go walking but we did have fun looking at the interactive map at the information centre.
