One of my aims is participating in the Twelve by Twelve challenges is to experiment with new techniques including finishes. In this quilt, I have tried out a very fine 2mm accent or “fillet” strip before applying the binding. This unforgiving close up reveals a few wobbles but overall the finish complements the quilt finely:

if that’s what I think it is (kind of like piping, but without a cord threaded through), we call that a ‘flange’ round here. They’re great for all sorts of things, from simply offering a nice tailored look to a finish to offering various colour or dimensional options. I’ve never seen one less than 5mm wide though – masochists R U? heh

I was going to try piping around the edge of a large quilt I just finished, but I wimped out. I think I’d better try it smaller scale first (the quilt was 95 by 105….LOL) to see how it goes.
