I am returning to teach at the QuiltFest Virtual Schoolhouse in November with two live, interactive Zoom workshops that focus on two different elements of design – shape and line:
- Geometricks: 4-7pm Friday 4 November EDT (US)* Tips and tricks for creating geometric shapes with freeform piecing: triangles, quadrilaterals and hexagons. We will cover more than 10 different techniques for creating geometric units getting progressively more loose and improvisational. We’ll explore the design possibilities of repeating motifs and learn how to assemble those units to create dynamic compositions.
- Line Dancing: 4-7pm Saturday 5 November EDT (US)* Learn versatile methods of piecing expressive fine lines. As a warm-up, we will cover some of the technicalities of making a range of lines – straight, curvy and beautifully wobbly and more. Then there is a choice of design exercises that put those techniques into practice straight away.
*This is 7-10am Saturday and Sunday (Sydney time).
