It’s ten days until the opening of my solo exhibition Natural Abstractions and the exhibition countdown has begun. The guest bedroom has been turned into a staging area and I am working my way through my action list. Today’s task was to prepare all of the hanging rods and batons for the larger textile paintings that will complement the Copa Abstractions collection of textile sketches. I am grateful to the Laundry King who sawed, sanded, drilled and turned the eye screws leaving me the simple jobs of marking and measuring. One of my new works is over 2.2 metres wide so I did a split sleeve and you will see that there is an eye hook in the middle of the batons to help support the weight.
My textile paintings are all different sizes so I have added labels with photos to help match up each work with its hanging device – so long as they stay in place. With this humidity, the labels are losing their stickiness. I will mark some numbers too – just in case.
