The X Factor is the latest workshop to be added to my teaching portfolio. It is in a short-form, three hour format and is a fun introduction to improvisational piecing and working with stacks.
I taught this workshop three times at the Hobbysew My Creative Escape last weekend and was impressed at how productive the students were despite the shorter class duration. At first some students were a little tentative (even scared!) about working without rulers and pins but they were soon revelling in the freedom. By the end of three hours, they all had several sets of X blocks and new skills to complete their quilt tops at home. Actually, some students were so keen on the technique that they had another sewing session on Sunday evening. Here is Debbie’s X quilt (she’s the one hiding on the left) and you can view more photos in the X Factor Serendipity Student Gallery.
I will next be teaching The X Factor at AQS Quiltweek-Paducah from 5.30-8.30pm on Wednesday, 24 April. That’s only a couple of months away! Advance registrations close in just five weeks. I hope that some of you can join me!
Workshop Spotlight is series of posts highlighting workshops from my portfolio of project-based and technique-driven patchwork and quilting classes. My focus is on striking designs and the effective use of colour so as to promote fun and encourage the creative confidence of my students. I am available to teach at shops or private venues on the Central Coast, in the greater Sydney metropolitan area and beyond. I love to travel!
