I’ve put the finishing touches on Afterglow and have loaded it up onto my contemporary quilts website:
When I came to measuring it, I found the edges were surprisingly uniform so I decided to trim it up to a rectangle. I followed Mrs Mel’s mitred facing instructions after a fashion. Where I departed was in blunting off the corners to give a rounded effect. I also stay-stitched the centre section of the facing strips, leaving four inches at either end so that I could manipulate the mitred corners to the back of the quilt. I’m very pleased with the clean finish but it wasn’t a speedy process. Next time, I think I might try to prepare the strips and mitre the corners before attaching them to the quilt.
