Today is the last day of the Hazine exhibition at the artelido gallery at nearby Pretty Beach. Described as a “summer exhibition of Anatolian treasures”, I had little inkling of the patchwork treat in store for me.
It turned out that most of the Turkish carpets on display were pieced together from older carpets in unmistakably patchwork style. Unfortunately, the exhibitor does not yet have a website but she did permit me to take a handful of photos and here is a sample of some of the carpets in a classic layout:

In addition, I saw a number of smaller rugs made from squares and rectangles and pieced together in a more free-style, improvisational manner. The colour combinations were exceptional ranging from subtle-subdued earthy palettes to outrageous reds, oranges and teals. The designs were deceptive in their simplicity but very inspirational.
