For Week 14 of my self-guided weekly art project, and coinciding with the festive season, I decided to highlight one of the many norfolk pines (aka living Christmas trees) that form part of the view from my studio:
Norfolk pines have a distinctive form with widely spaced branches and a symmetrical, triangular outline. A few years ago, I made Copacabana Sentinels for the Twelve by Twelve BrownSageBlue Colourplay challenge. That piece depicted two tall Norfolk pines next to the Copacabana Surf Life Saving Club (before one got struck by lightning and had to be removed).
I have many photos showing the upward angled branches against a blue sky but sometimes it can be cloudy too.
I want to keep some variety in the palette for my Copa Abstractions so this time I went for a gray background.
I look forward to seeing YOUR weekly art project. It’s not too late! New participants are welcome to join in at any time. Make a pledge for 2017.

We have 2 of these pesky things blocking our view. I’d so much rather have your art.

Lisa – I feel the same way about a certain palm tree! And both palm trees and norfolk pines shed a lot of unwanted debris too.

Trees in the wrong place, common issue. Loving the colour palette Brenda.
