For the last month or more, I have been very (very!) busy behind the scenes with other members of the Ozquilt Network exhibition subcommittee processing the 84 entries received for Art Quilt Australia 2015 and presenting the artwork to the jurors.
Selections were made by Dr. Susan Wood (Senior Lecturer in Art History and Visual Culture, School of Communication and Creative Industries, Charles Sturt University, NSW), Jacque Schultze (former Creative Director and Curator at Belconnen Arts Centre, Canberra, ACT) and Martha Sielman (Executive Director of Studio Art Quilt Associates, USA).
Ozquilt Network is Australia’s organisation for art quilters and is committed to presenting artists with a quality exhibition and catalogue opportunity unconstrained by prescriptive theme and size requirements and old-fashioned notions of what constitutes a “quilt”. 60 artists took up this opportunity and 41 out of 84 works were selected. I am thrilled that two of the works are mine.
Art Quilt Australia 2015 is on exhibition from 23 October-13 December 2015 at the National Wool Museum, Geelong, Victoria. The touring exhibition Australia Wide Four is on display at the same time.
Bookings close on 25 September 2015 for the one day forum Art Quilts: Evolution & Revolution and associated conference activities (eg Jan Mullen workshop, artist studio tours and treasure troving in the National Wool Museum archives). All welcome!
Applications for the Young Makers (Under 35s) Scholarship Opportunity close on 14 September 2015. Five positions at the conference are on offer.
