It’s just 125 days until the 20th European Patchwork Meeting/Carrefour Européen du Patchwork opens in Alsace, France from 18-21 September 2014. I will be attending the event in a variety of capacities:
- curator of Australia Quilts – “exceptional quilts from the great Southern land” ranging from traditional quilts to contemporary textile art (that’s a glimpse of one of my Flying Colours works below);
- exhibiting artist as part of the Twelve by Twelve Colourplay exhibition; and
- teacher – join me for Stacks of Improvisation (19 September) and/or Serendipity Circles (20 September)
The Laundry King is coming too. He will help with installation and takedown (he’s becoming quite expert!) and will go exploring Val d’Argent and environs.
It’s been several years since we were last in Europe. We’re looking forward to visiting some new (to us) places. Our iPads have been running hot with online research. I also enjoy doing this the old-fashioned way with books and maps spread out on the table. I even got the Strasbourg Tourist Bureau to send me some brochures. How 20th century is that?!
For me, planning and anticipation are integral to the whole fun of travel. 125 sleeps to go!

Moi aussi, j’aime bien préparer mes voyages avec de vrais livres et de vraies cartes! 😉

I think you’ll find France is still very 20th century! In some respects, all the better for it… I’m English, living in France and sometimes it can be a bit frustrating. Modern quilts raise eyebrows! Dear Jane is much more the thing. You are, however, assured of a warm welcome by the French. I hope you have a successful trip. Incidentally, Somerset is one of my favourite English counties.
