Pohutukawa Taonga is a monoprinted and shibori-dyed work that I made last year when Jewel Pearce Patterson scholarship winner Lisa Walton invited me to participate in her Textured Treasures exhibition. Thanks to a tip off from my friend Monica in Michigan, I understand that Pohutukawa Taonga features in the August/September 2012 issue of Quilters Newsletter magazine in an article about the Textured Treasures exhibition
Textured Treasures will be on display as a special exhibit at the International Quilt Festival at Long Beach (26-29 September 2012). In the meantime, you can view some of the other Textured Treasures quilts in the Quilters Newsletter slideshow gallery.

OH! I thought this was something you knew was coming. I realized I might get my copy of this (it being US based) a little before it hit your mailbox in Copacabana, but I thought you’d be awaiting it.
I get a very big charge out of seeing in various magazines names of Australian quilters I’ve seen in the cloth at the Sydney Quilt Show or whose styles announce them before you even read the picture caption. The community is pretty huge but a community nontheless.
It is, of course, extra special when it is someone you can actually call friend.
