Illumination Shibori

My latest bright idea for my “illumination” theme Twelve by Twelve quilt was to try to capture lit windows or lanterns in shibori. The results were not quite what I had in mind but a couple of pieces have potential:

  2. I think the darker ones seem to be more like illuminated lanterns than the more yellow ones. Interesting how much of a role darkness plays in our perception that something nearby glows–otherwise it just reads as the color yellow rather than as light.

  3. These are all so pretty! And I admire your continuing efforts with shibori — are you aiming for your 12×12 to have a shibori theme overall? I can’t wait to see your final piece!
