My latest bright idea for my “illumination” theme Twelve by Twelve quilt was to try to capture lit windows or lanterns in shibori. The results were not quite what I had in mind but a couple of pieces have potential:

I think the darker ones seem to be more like illuminated lanterns than the more yellow ones. Interesting how much of a role darkness plays in our perception that something nearby glows–otherwise it just reads as the color yellow rather than as light.
