Bound to Please & Other New Serendipity P&Q Workshops

The instructional DVD on quilt finishing techniques that I made with Quilters Companion Magazine sold out from the warehouse very quickly. However, I have a small number of spare copies that are for sale via my blog.

My new workshop Bound to Please covers even more quilt finishing techniques. My other new workshops are:

  • Strata Various - First create your unique strata in your favourite colours.  Then mix it up with cutting, slashing, insertions and other deconstruction and improvisational techniques.
  • Stacks of Improvisation - Improvise with fabric stacks, freehand cutting and pinless curved piecing.  Imagine the possibilities! These colour and design exercises will set you on the path of personal, creative self-expression in art quilts and can be translated to larger works.

See my Serendipity Patchwork & Quilting Workshops Brochure for a complete listing of the workshops that I offer. Feel free to contact me about my teaching availability.

Also, if you are interested in joining me in 2010 for a series of contemporary quiltmaking workshops at Material Obsession in Hunters Hill, please contact Kathy to register your interest. (Tel: 02 9817 2733).

Bid 4A Cause
Bid 4A Cause

Bid 4A Cause

Along with many textile artists from across the country, I was invited to submit an A4-sized artwork to be auctioned to raise money for cancer research. Desires Lines #4: Roseus Goddessii is my contribution. Images and artists statements will soon start to appear online - bookmark the Bid-4A-Cause Blog now!

Ranging from felted creations through a fabric piece mounted on heavy cardstock – all styles are covered. The interpretations are diverse while at the same time they all heavily representational of the old-world term Roseus (pink) and the evocative term of Goddess. You can also view the quilts in person at the Brisbane Quilt Show (21-25 October).

My Place: A Travelling Exhibition of Contemporary Art Quilts

MY PLACE is an exhibition of 90 contemporary art quilts from Australia, New Zealand and South Africa and includes my contribution, Tudibaring- place where the waves pound like a beating heart which depicts the foaming sea beneath the northern headland of Copacabana where I live.

You can view the quilts on the MY PLACE website or in person at:

Made in New Zealand II & Art Quilt Australia & The New Quilt 2010

Made in New Zealand II is the largest collection of New Zealand quilts ever assembled to traveloverseas. The exhibition was curated by Anne Scott, editor of New Zealand Quilter magazine, and was displayed for the first time at the Européen du Patchwork in Ste Marie-aux-Mines. I was honoured to be engaged to design a website/gallery so that we can all enjoy these contemporary and traditional quilts.

Art Quilt Australia 2009, featuring works by 28 artists, is on exhibition from 7 November to 19 December at Craft ACT: Craft and Design Centre, Level 1 North Building, 180 London Circuit, Canberra City ACT.

The New Quilt is a biennial juried exhibition of contemporary quilt textiles presented by the Quilters Guild of NSW Inc in partnership with the Manly Art Gallery & Museum. Entries for The New Quilt 2010 close on 18 March 2010. Entry is open to all quiltmakers regardless of whether or not they are Guild members.
