I am directly hosting a set of live, interactive Zoom workshops to suit a range of time zones. The line-up for the first part of 2023 includes the return of some popular favourites and two brand NEW workshops: Improv Rocks!(3 hours) and Riffing with Repetition. 3 Hour Workshops A$35 Earlybird Special
- FUNdamentally Circles 6-9am Friday 27 January: Focus on the core technique of freeform piecing circular designs without pins and templates. It’s liberating and it’s FUN. After some skill-building exercises, students will start on their own compositions with confidence.
- Beyond FUNdamentally Circles 6-9am Thursday 9 February: goes deeper into the design possibilities of half circles and curvilinear shapes and is designed for graduates of the first FUNdamentally Circles workshop.

- Logs & Ladders 6-9am Wednesday 22 March Convert your scraps into dynamic compositions with improvisational log cabin and/or ladder units. Learn freeform cutting without rulers and how to join irregular blocks.
- Geometricks 5-8am Thursday 27 April 2023 Tips and tricks for creating geometric shapes with freeform piecing: triangles, quadrilaterals and hexagons. Explore the design possibilities of repeating motifs.
Abstract Design Workshops A$140 Earlybird Special
These two multi-segment workshops explore different aspects of abstract design. The workshops are complementary. They can be taken separately or together. Spaces are limited to ensure personalised attention and guidance.
- Riffing with Repetition: Explore the power of repetition to create unity and rhythm in abstract design using YOUR preferred techniques.

- Abstraction in Action: Learn how to create an abstract composition drawn from reality using YOUR preferred medium and techniques. Working from a personal source of inspiration found in nature or place, students will learn the basics of abstraction through observation and reflection.
- Group 1 (Weekdays) from 5am 3, 4 & 18 May and 8 June
- Group 2 (Weekends) from 6pm 6, 7 & 20 May and 10 June
Improv Rocks! Rock Painting in Fabric
Many of my students have expressed interest in learning more about apps for developing quilt designs. This new 3-hour workshop includes:
- Digital sketching: how to design and colour using the SketchClub app for iOS devices. (This step can also be done with pencils and paper.)
- An introduction to improvisational freeform piecing linear motifs to decorate your rock including curved line, zig zag and ImproVine designs
- mixing prints and solids: exploring the qualities of solids and prints and how they interact
- how to inset a large organic curved shape with ease.
Book by 15 January for the earlybird special. After that pricing increases to A$40 for 3 hour workshops and A$160 for the abstract design workshops.
