There is power in making. There is also power in committing to a regular creative practice with structure and a reporting process. As you consider your plans for 2022, take a look of the Block of the Month Club, organised by The National Quilt Museum in Paducah, Kentucky, USA.
Through this program, the museum aims to challenge quilters to experiment with new techniques and styles while having fun connecting with quilters from all over the world, and learning more about the museum in the process! There is also a dedicated private Facebook group with a large community of over 21 thousand participants.
Round 4: January – December 2022
Round 4 started on 1 January 2022. New blocks are released on the first day of each month. Each block is 12 ½” square (unfinished), and created by guest designers. Inspirations will come from museum exhibitions, collection artists, themes, and styles. As each block is a mystery until its release, the final quilt will be a sampler style, and participants are free to arrange the blocks layout as desired.
Here’s a peek at Round 4 Block #1. Ignite is designed by NQM Director of Education Becky Glasby and is inspired by Red Squared by Judith Larzelere that is in the museum’s collection.
