This is the 5th month of my creative challenge for 2018 Taking Shape: Cues from Nature – a monthly art project. I am returning to a familiar subject – banksia flowers.
I admire the fortitude and stoicism of the banksias on the coastal heathland that flourish despite being buffeted by salt-heavy winds. In this work, I wanted to explore positive and negative space. Is the banksia flower pink and blue?

Intensive zig zag stitching with pink and variegated blue 40/3 weight threads adds texture:
