I am thrilled to be part of the teaching faculty for the New Zealand National Quilt Symposium in Christchurch from 5-10 October 2017. There is a fantastic line up of Australian, New Zealand and international tutors covering everything from traditional quilts to modern quilts and contemporary textile art. Five day master classes with Lisa Call and Glenys Mann are also on offer.
I vividly recall attending my first New Zealand quilt symposium in Christchurch in 2003. I signed up for five days of classes and attended every lecture, exhibition and associated event that I could possibly fit into my schedule. It was exhilarating!
Register for Symposium now so as to secure the lowest possible registration number and to optimise your chances of being allocated your preferred classes and events. Registration Books will be mailed in early December. The closing date is 28 February 2017 with classes confirmed at the end of May.
All quilters registered for the Symposium are eligible to enter the exhibitions. Along with Marianne Hargreaves and Philip Tusttum, I will be one of the judges. What an honour! Categories include: Creative Construction – A Story in Textiles, Cultural Connection – Celebrating Our New Zealand Cultural Diversity, Recycled and an open category for quilts made after 1 February 2015. (There is also a non-judged postcard challenge that is open to everyone –World War 1 – Postcards from the Front)
I am looking forward to seeing you (or your work) at the New Zealand National Quilt Symposium 2017!
