Feeling (Not So) Neutral

21 December 2014 Filed Under: Technique:Dyeing

My main sewing machine is taking a well-earned break with the technician. Rather than digging out the back up machine(s), I decided to take this opportunity to prepare for some forthcoming projects. My stash is running low on neutrals, especially lighter values so I booked the Laundry King’s workshop for some dyeing time:P1010502When I saw the earth-tones, I couldn’t help myself and added some chartreuse greens. They look dark while wet and batching
dyesThe gradations (and texture) are more pronounced after washout and ironing:

And this mash-up from the leftover dyes will be used for a backing:

Now to play with colour combos on my design wall pending the return of my machine on Tuesday.  Or I could lie in the sun like this creature!

Wow, you’ve been busy! I think you can relax now. In the sun, it’s even better.
Merry Christmas to you and to the laundry king!

Those colours are lovely – I particularly like the denimy blues …. I ran over a blue tongue once, on our driveway. They do like to bask there and blend in with the bricks 🙁

It took umpteen takes to create a short video abou It took umpteen takes to create a short video about my artwork Integrifolia 7 Emergence. (Tip: if you are using a microphone, turn it on. Sigh) Look out for a range of video and virtual offerings in connection with The New Quilt exhibition presented by QuiltNSW at the Hawkesbury Regional Gallery at Windsor from 5 February to 11 April 2021.
