Our major home maintenance project seems to have taken forever. At last the carport has been cleared of tools and building materials and “the cows” are back on the wall.
We impulsively bought this sepia photograph from a butchery that was closing down in inner-city Balmain in the late 1990s and carried it home. The photo was already mounted a masonite and the Laundry King added a frame. When we lived in the city, it hung in our Informal living area and we decided to keep it when we moved to Casa da Praia full time. I guess it’s an odd thing to hang in your carport but there’s something strangely reassuring about the image of grazing cattle and gum trees. Long may they graze.
Have you ever bought an object on impulse that has stayed with you?
