Living Colour! Entry Statistics

1 February 2014 Filed Under: Curator Knowledge, Exhibition:Living Colour!

As the clock ticked over at midnight last night, this marked the official closing time for entries the Living Colour travelling textile art exhibition.  One of the challenges of curating an exhibition under your own steam, with generous financial support from Brother International Australia and venue support from Expertise Events, is to effectively promote the call for entry, secure engagement and maximise participation.

THANK YOU to everyone who has helped spread the word about this exhibition and to all the textile and fibre artists who have submitted works for consideration.  I am thrilled to report that Living Colour has attracted both quality and quantity.  I received a 177 entries from 160 artists.  My in-box has been spinning with over 50% of the entries coming in this week and 20% on the last day!

I will present a more detailed statistical analysis after I have completed my review of the entries and selected the exhibition works. In the meantime, here are a couple of infographics comparing the volume of entries received for Living Colour and Beneath the Southern Sky*.  Now I am going to immerse myself in colour!

*The BTSS data is adjusted slightly as the closing date was a week earlier than Living Colour.
