A while ago, longer than I care to admit, I was cleaning the venetian blind in the bathroom a little too vigorously and snapped one of the suspension cross threads that keep the blade in place. That drooping blade bugged me every time I looked at it. Finally, I got a needle and thread and fixed it. The tools were easily to hand and the actual repair took less than a minute. Too easy. What took me so long?!
Then the Laundry King presented me with his favourite pair of carpenter jeans with a worn and torn knee. As he didn’t fancy an applique flower, I resorted to a more utilitarian repair. In the process, I learned about two more stitches on my sewing machine and how to use the button hole attachment. Even then, you can see that I struggle with straight lines!
It felt good to be extending the useful life of these everyday objects. Have you patched or repaired anything lately?
