While the rest of Australia was out casting their vote, I spent Saturday circling around with Fairholme Quilters. In my Serendipity Circles workshop, students explore stress-free methods of fusing or piecing their very own circles of serendipity. These free-form cutting techniques underpin a range of projects. Here is a selection of teaching samples:
In an inspired move, Fairholme Quilters decided to let loose on their charity quilt stash. As they developed their skills and confidence cutting and piecing expressive arcs without template or pins, they also generated plenty of circle units to be joined together for charity quilts. Everyone agreed that it was a fun and productive way to learn a new technique without feeling anxious about cutting into precious personal fabrics. Click to enlarge:
I love teaching. It is such a buzz to see students learning new skills and revelling in colour and pattern. I am taking bookings for 2014 and beyond. Download the Serendipity Patchwork & Quilting Workshops Brochure (PDF) for more information.
