Red MXBG + Golden MX3R + Sky Blue MXR

20 August 2009 Filed Under: Technique:Dyeing 5 Comments

Take procion dye powders in three colours; mix and apply the dyes in the ratios set out in my triad dyeing tutorial to create six new colours; later in the dyeing session, mush into each dye container an additional piece of fabric that has been pre-soaked in soda ash solution. Voila!

The image on the left shows Red MXBG + Golden MX3R + Sky Blue MXR but they are much more interesting when you mix them up a bit!

Oh thank you so much for the link to the tutorial. The fabrics all look beautiful. I tye dyed some t-shirts with my daughters and a few of their friends this morning and we all had a blast. Nothing mathmatical there – a splash here, a splash there and loads of fun. I hope to do some dying on my own once the kids head back to school.

Hey there – it’s me again! Seeing this reminds me that I want to play around with another set of primaries, besides the 2 i already use. Any idea what Red MXBG would be from Dharma or Prochem?
