I will be presenting a lecture on The Art of Curating and five one-day workshops:
- Logs & Ladders: Building with Improvisation (Friday 6 October) – build your own composition with improvisational units log cabins, ladders and more. Learn freeform cutting without rulers or templates; how to join irregular blocks; and the effective use of positive and negative space. Explore the design principles of repetition and variation.
- The Modern X (Saturday 7 October) – The Modern X is a fresh look at a classic quilting motif ? the X or cross block. This workshop covers a variety of improvisational piecing techniques; regular and irregular block compositions; and the effective use of positive and negative space. Suitable for all skill levels, this workshop is a great way to showcase the latest fabric ranges or treasures from your stash.
- Bound to Please (Sunday 8 October) – Expand your quilt finishing repertoire and improve your quilts instantly! This workshop covers a range of quilt finishing techniques from the classic continuous mitred binding (without bulges!) to the ever useful pillow case escape hatch; the artful facing finish to informal satin stitch edging; the pop tart finish to prairie points and more.
- Serendipity Circles (Monday 9 October) – Is it time to let loose?! This workshop explores stress-free methods of fusing or piecing your very own circles of serendipity without templates or rulers. For a final flourish, the class also covers decorative embellishment and quilting techniques.
- Creating with Felt (Tuesday 10 October) – Felt is a luscious, soft and pliable fabric available in an array of colours. It presents design and construction challenges for makers used to working with cottons, but also offers exciting possibilities.
