Sometimes artists and technology seem like oil and water – they just don’t mix – but it doesn’t need to be that way! In my upcoming presentation to the Embroiderers’ Guild NSW Inc., I review useful tools, skills and resources to complement your creative practice. From digital photography to setting up an online presence; time management to exhibition planning; and more!

Just back from a very informative and stimulating presentation at the Guild tonight. Brenda Gael Smith spoke about “Technology and Your Creative Practice”. She was very generous in imparting information and key advice gained from her own experience over 15 years. Brenda provided a wealth of information about programs and apps and answered questions from novices to more experienced users of technology with equal ease. Brenda has embraced technology in her daily practice and has a section on her website with technology resources and information specifically for textile artists. Even if you are really uncertain, you might want to start with good advice on using a digital camera to photograph textile art and resizing the images. Please refer to http://www.brendagaelsmith.com and Serendipity Patchwork’s website for further resources. Take some time to have a look at her stunning work and look at some of the exhibitions she has curated internationally. Thank you, Brenda, for a very enjoyable evening. LC
