On my last day in New Zealand, I took an excursion to the Auckland Botanic Gardens in Manurewa with my mother and grandmother – three generations of first born daughters. The rose gardens were a little past their prime but still full of colour. Appropriately, this floribunda variety is called My Mum:
And there were lots of yellow Serendipity roses but the scent was very faint:
The perennial gardens also provided an abundance of colour:
These textural plants are called Eryngium tricuspidatum (Sea Holly) and hail from SW Spain.
Now I am home and it’s time for me to get back into the studio to make some flower studies in cloth.
