Workshop Spotlight: Strata Various

Take a quick skip through my portfolio, such as my Grass series, and you will see that I love lines of all descriptions – columns,  marks, strings, strips, stripes, strata.  Swoon.  Whether curvy or straight, lines are so expressive and a series of lines, aka strata, lend themselves to landscapes and abstract forms.  Against this background, I present my workshop Strata Various.

Make beautiful music in fabric and colour.  First create your unique strata in your favourite colours.  Then mix it up with cutting, slashing, insertions and other deconstruction and improvisational techniques.
Pinless curved piecing techniques will also be covered.

Each student will make a small quilt top suitable as a wall hanging or an appliqué background. Alternatively, you can expand your strata into a larger project.

Workshop Spotlight is series of posts highlighting workshops from my portfolio of project-based and technique-driven patchwork and quilting classes. My focus is on striking designs and the effective use of colour so as to promote fun and encourage the creative confidence of my students. I am available to teach at shops or private venues on the Central Coast, in the greater Sydney metropolitan area and beyond. I love to travel!
