Remember hanging out by the mail box waiting for exam results? That’s sort of how I felt today, ever alert for e-mail notification of the outcome of my applications for the 2013 Gosford Art Prize. Mid-afternoon, I got the news that Hope, Promise, Bounty: Reap What You Sow was selected as one of 170 finalists from over 530 entries. The exhibition of finalists will be on display at Gosford Regional Gallery from 29th September to 25 November 2012. The opening night is this Friday 28 September at 6.30pm.
While prizes are awarded for various categories including: painting, photography, sculpture, ceramics and 2-dimensional work, I am simply excited that this intensively hand-stitched work is getting another gallery outing after it’s premier at the Regeneration: Contemporary Quilt Testiles exhibition earlier this year. I am looking forward to the official opening on Friday night.
(Looking through the list of finalists, I spotted a couple of textile works by Kay Haerland and a woven tapestry by Margaretha Timmers.)
