Today I achieved a significant milestone in my creative new year. I groomed my completed quilts, packed them into a special box and dispatched them to Manly Art Gallery & Museum for the forthcoming Regeneration: Contemporary Quilt Textiles 2012 exhibition (27 April – 4 June 2012). I was going to post a tutorial on how I created my printed labels but I was over-zealous in deleting images from my SD card. Instead, I present you with this glimpse of Hope, the first part in my shibori triptych.

And, while I remember, here’s a Bonnie McCaffrey vidcast interview with Lisa Walton which shows images of the Textured Treasures exhibition in Houston last year (including a fleeting glance at my Pohutukawa Taonga work) and finishes up with a beading lesson:
Last, but not least, Friday 3 February is your final opportunity to go into my Masters:Art Quilts Volume 2 giveaway. There are FOUR ways to go into the draw:
- leave a comment on this post highlighting one aspect of artmaking or quiltmaking that you are concentrating on for 2012; and/or
- “like” the Serendipity Patchwork & Quilting Facebook page;
- “like” the Beneath the Southern Sky Facebook page where there are daily sneak previews of the upcoming exhibition; and/or
- sign up for the Serendipity Studio Newsletter.
If you do all four, your name will go into the draw four times. I’ll be closing off the draw at 5pm.

I am focusing this year on “getting my hands dirty” – producing, experimenting, working instead of just reading about great techniques or ideas…
but I do need all the inspiration I can get so would love to add Masters:Art Quilts Vol. 2 to my library!
Thanks for the chance and all of your blog inspiration!
Kat
Wow, that clip was a treat! So much lovely eye candy.
Your shibori is GORGEOUS. I have a few pieces of hand dyed fabric with nice texture that I’d like to embroider, a la Jude Hill’s ‘spirit cloth’.
This year my focus is to get serious about my textile art. I’ve dabbled and played around with techniques for over 10 years. Now I’d like to produce some finished pieces that I’ve had in my head and sketchbooks for a long time.
Thank you for sharing a fabulous website
Marie
Are we supposed to leave separate comments for each? I would like to try fabric painting for quilts soon. I also liked both facebook pages and have signed up for the newsletter.
