Aurifil Quilt Patchwork and Embroidery Threads is holding a giveaway on the Aurifil Facebook Page. You can find out how the giveaway works here on the the Aurifil blog but the gist of it is if you “like” the page, share it with your friends with a “I LOVE Aurifil threads” message and have 100+ friends who also like Aurifil, send Alex a screenshot and you could win three large spools of Aurifil thread.
For me, it was easy to say I LOVE Aurifil threads without any sense of pretence. I received a package of goodies from Aurifil in 2009. Strong, lint free, 100% cotton is my preferred thread for both piecing and quilting and Aurifil comes in a stunning range of plain and variegated colours in 12, 28, 40 and 50 thread weights. (Aurifil also make Lana 12 weight in 50% wool and 50% acrylic that is great for hand embroidery as is the 12 weight cotton Mako – it’s like a perle thread but it doesn’t get tangled!)
Recently, I used a aqua and white Aurifil variegated thread to hand stitch the background of Pohutukawa Taonga. This is a detail shot, although the background stitching is a little hard to discern:
This quilt is included Textured Treasures exhibition that will be on display at Houston this year presented by Lisa Walton as part of her as part of her Jewel Pearce Patterson Scholarship for Quilting Teachers. Shipping quilts internationally is an expensive business and Aurifil threads is very kindly sponsoring the Textured Treasures exhibition. Thank you Aurifil!
