I once infamously declared that I would never do shibori (or more particularly, stitched shibori) again. I should not have been so emphatic. These days, shibori is an integral part of my creative repertoire and I embrace its inherent serendipitous qualities. So when 3 Creative Studios invited me to be guest artist for March and to share a technique of the month, I instantly knew that I wanted to focus on shibori.
Over the next month, I will be presenting four mini-tutorials each looking at a different shibori dyeing technique. If you give the technique a try you may win a prize! Here’s how it works. You make something using the TOM and post it to the 3 Creative Studios TOM Flickr Group by 16 April. Vicki and Terri will draw 3 names from the entries. The first-place winner will receive a copy of the bookTwelve by Twelve International Art Quilt Challenge and a selection of contemporary quilt patterns from me AND 3 fat quarters of hand dyed fabric from Vicki. The 2nd and 3rd place winners will receive fabric postcards from me. Look out for the first tutorial tomorrow.
