My latest quilt, Dreamlines #3 is a modern variation of the strip or strippy quilt and was awarded first prize in the New Traditions from Old Favourites open category at the 2009 Sydney Quilt Show. It is made from a combination of my own hand-dyed fabrics and some fabrics from Gail Simpson of Cotton Patch Fabrics and a wonderful scrap pack that I purchased from Lisa Walton of Dyed & Gone to Heaven. As you can see from this photo, it is quilt No 312:Dreamlines #3 © 2009 Brenda Gael Smith
It is machine quilted and completed with hand-stitching in perle thread. I was working on it up until 11pm on the eve of judging day (there’s got to be some perks to being a drop off lady!) which is why this detail shot still shows some chalk lines:

Despite the quilt’s irregular shape, I used my favourite facing finish which is included on my instructional DVD on quilt finishing techniques and article in Issue 37 of Quilters Companion magazine.

As its title suggests, this is the third piece in my Dreamlines series following on from Magic Carpet (currently touring as part of the AP&Q/AQC Fantasy exhibition) and Dreamlines #2.
