My Place

July 2, 2008 12:55PM | Filed Under Contemporary Quilts, My Surroundings |

I am pleased to report that Tudibaring was selected to be part of the forthcoming My Place exhibition. The exhibition of 50cm square quilts will travel to South Africa for the South African National Quilt Festival 2008, before touring other venues in South Africa, New Zealand, Australia and Europe. The quilts will be displayed at the Minerva Textile Gallery, Wellington during Quilt Symposium 2009.

Apart from a year in Washington State, I have always lived in close proximity to the sea. The rhythm of the ocean is integral to my sense of wellbeing. My current home and studio overlook Copacabana beach on the Central Coast of New South Wales. Tudibaring Point is the northern headland of the beach and is purported to mean “place where the waves pound like a beating heart” in the local indigenous language.
