I’ve been checking out some of the new members of the Artful Quilters Web Ring. There’s over 230 members these days and I have noticed that many of the bloggers share my interest in circles as a quilting theme or motif. For example:
- Jan’s blog is actually called Full Circle and features some of her work as Affiliate Artist in the bell tower studio at the McColl Center for Visual Arts in downtown Charlotte, North Carolina;
- Loris has been doing some interesting discharge pieces and has made some circles from various atypical quilt fabrics such as rubber drawer liners and pet screens;and
- Cynthia apparently has a series of circle quilts including this one and these ones.
My friend Monica has completed her challenge quilt which also features circles. And doesn’t this aerial image of irrigation crop circles in Kansas call out to be made into a quilt?!
Happy wedding anniversary to Amy and Paul (this is their wedding quilt).

Heishi beads are shell beads- remember puka shells?? Same but thinner. Pony beads are #6 beads (big), spacers are usually metal. Go to the Fire Mountain Beads web site and you can see all of this.
Sounds like a fun class.
